The Sraddha Ritual : Purificatory Rites - Verse 43-47

The following should be avoided in Sraddha : that which is trodden upon by people while climbing on to their seats; that which is seen by the mobile beings that are defiled; dried up and stale things ; partly eaten things, defiled objects; that which is licked at the tip; that which is defiled by gravel.
