In his family were bom elephants with (distinctly divided) symmetrical heads, resembling the smooth clouds, The verse enumfrates the eight sons of that elephant the names of which are as follows: Padma, Uttarna, Padmagulma, Agaja. V&tagaja, Gaja, Capala and Arista. j l . pftfapatdnanah in some editions is obscure and should be emended as Pi4tyat&nan&k ‘with large and stout (big) faces (heads)', as in Bd. P. V. 338.
