The four famous great continents are stationed on the petals.1 The powerful Mem is stationed on the pericarp. 1 Verses 46 ft explain ttie four-continent ( Cafur-dvipi) concept of the earth. It regards Meru as the pericarp of the Earth-lotus with four dvipas as petals, one in each direction. Four-directionwise concept was naturally rlier and is found in Mbh. VI.. 6.12-13, VP.
