When the surface of the earth had been completely covered by the water, when the elements remained undivided and undifferentiated, the self-born lord, surveying everything, moved about like the glowworm at night during the rainy season. 1 Seeking a means for putting it back in position after knowing that the earth is immersed in water, he became enlightened by means of inference (as to the way) of lifting up the earth. He created another body which he recollected (as having been assumed) in the previous Kalpas.
