मनो॒ न्वा हु॑वामहे नाराशं॒सेन॒ सोमे॑न । पि॒तॄ॒णां च॒ मन्म॑भिः
mano nvā huvāmahe nārāśaṃsena somena pitṝṇāṃ ca manmabhiḥ
Let our minds be invoked with invincible Soma, with strength like a war-host; and may our thoughts be with the Fathers by the rites.
We call upon the spirit (of Subandhu) with the Soma appropriated to the progenitors, with the praisesepithet of the Soma. Yajus. 3.53 reads stomena: praise is of to kinds, that of gods and men, the latter isnārāśamsaḥ, whence the epithet narāśaṃsa means, suited to man; that is, to deified men or pitṛs].
We call the spirit hither with the Soma of our parted sires, Yea, with the Fathers' holy hymns.
